125th Anniversary Rugby Match

On the 13th January 2017 we held a 125th Anniversary Rugby Match, our 1st XV vs. St George's Weybridge (our longest standing fixture). Below is a report of the spectacularly successful evening. On the menu to the right are links to a photo gallery of the event, the match programme, and a brief history of rugby at the College.

The date and venue were set the teams were ready; over 25 Old Boys from many years amongst them many former 1st XV Captains had been contacted to spread the word about the 125 Match. Twitter and Facebook were alight.

We weren’t sure how many would come to support their old school 250-500 were our estimates.

Well we weren’t disappointed! Over 700 of you turned out on the coldest night in January.

Pupils, parents, OWs and their parents! UHS old girls and the wider community. It was a magnificent night.

The year of 1989 had 28 College boys and UHS girls there! The year of 1998 had almost all of their team. The all-conquering 1st XV from 1995-97 were well represented. I could go on!

Lads who hadn’t seen each other since they left the College seamlessly picked up where they had left off.

Many individuals had made immense efforts to be present. Even flying in from Cornwall and the South of France!

It was a great night and showed the College and the SW London Catholic wider community at its finest.

Thank you to all our sponsors for their generosity. Can we do it again next year was the cry!Not many comprehensive schools could do that was another!
