Qualifications
Wimbledon College offers a wide range of Level 3 courses (A Level and Pre-U) in the Sixth Form. It also offers Level 2 courses (BTEC2) in Business Studies, Science and Sports Studies.
A Level courses consist of two parts: AS Levels are taken in Y12 and are a stand-alone qualification in their own right. A2 courses are followed in Y13 and together with the AS course make a complete A Level.
The Cambridge Pre-U is a new qualification, equivalent to A Level and widely accepted by universities in the UK and abroad. It is a two year course (Y12 and Y13) with no independent qualificaiton at the end of Y12.
BTEC2 courses last one year and are equivalent to GCSE at grades A*-C. Pupils following BTEC2 courses generally do a One-Year Sixth Form but may then apply to do a further two years following A Level courses.
BTEC3 is a two-year course equivalent to A Level.

Y12 Enrolment
takes place on Wednesday 25th August 2010 from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Sixth Form Centre. All current Y11 boys, both internal and external applicants who have been offered a conditional place, must attend enrolment in person. Parents are welcome to attend with their sons. If you have not applied for a Sixth Form place at Wimbledon College and now wish to do so, you should also attend enrolment and bring with you a completed Sixth Form Application Form. All attending must also bring (a) GCSE results (b) passport and (c) a cheque for the Common Room Fee (£75) which will only be cashed if you accept a place. Please ensure you have checked your GCSE grades against the entry requirements for Sixth Form courses.
Y13 Enrolment
takes place on Thursday 26th August 2010 from 10.00 to 12-noon in the Sixth Form Centre. All current Y12 boys wishing to return to Sixth Form must attend. Parents are welcome to attend with their sons. You need to bring to Enrolment (a) your AS Level results and (b) a cheque for the Common Room Fee (£30).
External Applications
Wimbledon College welcomes applications from boys from other schools. There is a limited number of places each year depending on how many Y11 Wimbledon College pupils choose to return and meet the entrance requirements. External applicants, including those who have not already submitted a written application, should attend the Y12 Enrolment Day (see above). Please bring with you: (a) your GCSE results slips, (b) a completed Sixth Form Application Form, and (c) a reference from your school.
Entitlement to Free Post-16 Education
You are only entitled to a free place in the Sixth Form if you are an EU Citizen or have a visa which the UK Border Agency has stamped allowing you access to state support in the UK. If your visa is marked “no recourse to public funds”, we cannot offer you a place in the Sixth Form. Passport checks will be carried out on all Sixth Form applicants during the enrolment process. There are a few exceptions to this rule (such as Swiss citizens) - please contact the Head of Sixth Form for further information.
Sixth Form Partnerships
Wimbledon College has a longstanding partnership with the Ursuline High School (UHS) and a more recent partnership with Holy Cross School (HX) and the Richard Challoner School (RC). These partnership arrangements allow pupils to follow courses at the other schools. In general, most Wimbledon College pupils will study at Wimbledon College. However, if a course only offered at a partnership school, or if timetabling means a course cannot be taken at the College, there is the possibility of studying at a partnership school. Please note that not all courses at partnership schools are available to Wimbledon College pupils. Further guidance is available from the Head of Sixth Form.
