Peace Cranes - Jan/Feb 09

The Wimbledon College Social Justice Group (which meets every Tuesday lunch-time), chose to highlight the struggle for peace in our world, focusing on Sudan.

Pupils were encouraged to visit the chapel and write a prayer on a 2d cut out of a peace crane and stick it on our maps of Sudan and the rest of the world. Those who wanted to go further were encouraged to take some time to learn how to fold a 3d origami peace crane as a symbol of their prayer for peace.

The peace crane became an international symbol of peace because of a young girl from Hiroshima, you can find out more of her story and about peace cranes by clicking here.
