Wimbledon College Sixth Form students are celebrating their wonderful achievements in this year’s A Level and Vocational qualifications. The results are a further improvement on last year’s excellent results.
At A Level, students achieved a pass rate of over 99% with over 34% at A*/A, 61% at A*/B and 85% were graded A*- C. Results in Vocational courses were equally impressive with a 100% pass rate and just under half of all grades awarded were at least Distinction level. These figures, achieved in a wide range of subjects, continue to be well above national figures, which is very pleasing.
There are outstanding individual achievements in A Levels with four students achieving four A*s. Three others achieved 4 A Levels at A*/A and 23 achieving 3 A Levels at A*/A. In Vocational courses two students achieved D*D* and two others achieved D*D.
The vast majority of our students have received offers from their first-choice universities, which will see them commencing courses at top universities around the country. These include one student taking up a place at St John’s College, Oxford to study Geography and another who is going to study Medicine at Exeter [one of nine students going to Exeter].
Courses that students will be taking up this autumn are varied. They include Accounting, Aerospace Engineering, Animation, Aviation Management, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, Business, Civil Engineering, Computing, Criminology, Economics, Electrical Engineering, English, Finance, Geography, International Business, Law, Marketing, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medicine, Modern Languages, Music, Optometry, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, PPE, Psychology, Quantity Surveying, Sociology, Sports Management and Zoology.
Headteacher, Adrian Laing, said “Congratulations to all of our students on their well-deserved results. It is a real pleasure to see so many of our students being successful in gaining places in their university of choice. There are so many outstanding personal achievements that have to be acknowledged and celebrated.
Such successes are only achieved through the students’ commitment and hard work and the support that they receive from their parents, subject teachers and our Sixth Form team. It is a credit to them that they are now able to take the next step on their career path, either through further studies or by entering the work place.
We wish all of our students, who have completed their Sixth Form studies, every success in their future endeavours.”
