Lent Water Appeal

This Lent we are fundraising for CAFOD's water appeal. One of the biggest injustices in our world is that so many millions of people do not have access to clean water, and over 1 billion don't have access to adequate sanitation. In this Year of Mercy we want to put our faith into action and help CAFOD bring sustainable long term solutions to these issues for some of the poorest communities in our world. Donations can be brought into school, or you can donate online here (with the added bonus of GiftAid). Click for further info.

Water is the basic necessity for life and it is a global tradgedy that so many don't have access to clean water. CAFOD are helping to change this for some of the poorest communities around the world. See the campaign video below for an introduction to why this work is so vital, and what they will be doing with the money. Donations can be brought into school, or you can donate online here (with the added bonus of GiftAid).

We are encouraging students to put as much effort as they can into fundraising for CAFOD this Lent, with the added incentive that the government are Match Funding all donations so for every £1 we raise CAFOD will recieve £2 to spend (up to a total value of £3.5m). We are encouraging students to either give something up for Lent and donate the money saved, or to do a sponsored event, a sponsored run/walk/swim. For Lent I have given up Tea,Coffee and Soft drinks and instead am just drinking water, to help me appreciate how much we take this vital resource for granted. Getting sponsored to give up other drinks and drinking only water for a week or a fortnight or even for the rest of Lent could be another great way of raising money.
