Transition to the College

The College seeks to ensure that the transition from primary to secondary school is as supportive as possible.

Primary School Visits

In the Summer Term the Head of Figures (Y7) will visit primary schools. During these visits, pupils will get a chance to discuss life at College and ask any questions they may have. It also gives the opportunity to meet Year 6 teachers and exchange as much information as possible to aid a successful, happy transition.

Year 6 Test Day

The College holds a test day for all pupils starting in September. Pupils sit a series of short Cognitive Abilities Tests (CATs) which give us useful information about the pupils and are also used to set them for the start of Year 7.  Parents get more detailed information about how these are used at the Year 6 Transition Meetings.

Test day will take place on Saturday, 10th  June 2023 at 9h00

Year 6 Parents' Transition Meetings

Parents of boys entering the school in September are asked to attend a meeting as follows:

boys' surnames A-J Tuesday 20 June at 7pm

boys' surnames K-Z Wednesday 21 June at 7pm

The evening is designed for parents to familiarise themselves with the routines of the College and to get key information and dates. There will be a presentation by the Headteacher, the Deputy Head in charge of Lower Line and the Head of Figures (Y7) followed by an opportunity for parents to ask questions.

Year 6 Pupil Transition Days

The pupil transition days are the most important part of the transition process as they provide the opportunity for pupils to come and have a 'taster' of life at the College. The College holds two, one for those with Special Educational Needs (date tbc) and one for all pupils on Wednesday, 5 July 2023.

Introductory training session for RUGBY and FOOTBALL

At  Coombe Lane playing fields, 183 Coombe Lane, Raynes Park, SW20 0RG on Saturday, 2 September 2023.  Registration will start at 9.00am with the Rugby session starting at 9.30 and the Football session finishing at 11.00am.  Please arrive on time so that the sessions can run smoothly and the pupils can settle into the activities as quickly as possible.

The morning will start with a brief talk to introduce you all to the staff, the facility and to provide you with valuable information that will allow you and your child the chance to get the maximum benefit from their time at the College, and to see how the College views Sport and the standards we set for ourselves.

These are not trials, but they will provide us with valuable and early observations of your child's ability. Teams will be selected on commitment, attitude and ability demonstrated during PE, Games and training sessions.

Your child will require:

  • College Games kit
  • football or rugby boots (must have studs)
  • trainers (in case the ground is too hard)
  • mouthguard
  • shin pads
  • water and sun cream (weather depending)

The College will also be offering an opportunity for you and your child to hear and meet some of our school partners who help us improve our pupil welfare.
