Young people today face an unprecedented number of decisions about their education, lifestyle, and future careers. In light of the government’s requirement for all young people to remain in education or training until the age of 18-known as Raising the Participation Age-it is more important than ever that they are supported with high-quality information, advice and guidance. Continuing in learning does not mean staying in school; students have a range of pathways to choose from, including:
- Full-time education (school sixth form, sixth form college, FE college, or training provider)
- Apprenticeships or other work-based learning
- Employment with accredited training
Our CEIAG Entitlement
All students at Wimbledon College are entitled to a planned, progressive CEIAG programme that is:
- Accessible and differentiated to meet the diverse needs, interests and aspirations of all learners—including those with SEND and EHCPs.
- Personalised, enabling students to reflect on their strengths, explore opportunities, and make realistic, informed decisions.
- Inclusive of all key transitions, including Year 9 options, post-16 and post-18 choices.
Student Learning Outcomes
Through our CEIAG programme, students will:
- Know themselves and identify their interests, strengths, values, and learning styles (self-awareness).
- Understand the full range of progression routes available, including academic, technical and vocational pathways (opportunity awareness).
- Develop the skills to make informed, confident decisions about their education and career choices (decision-making).
- Take action by setting goals and planning for transition (planning and management).
- Develop employability skills through real-world encounters and experiences (career readiness).
These outcomes are mapped against the Gatsby Benchmarks and CDI Framework to ensure quality and consistency.
How We Deliver CEIAG
The programme is personalised to meet students’ varying needs and includes:
- Curriculum-based activities across subjects, including career-related learning within lessons.
- Dedicated tutor time activities, focusing on developing self-awareness, aspirations, and career planning.
- Personal guidance with a Level 6 qualified Careers Adviser, ensuring that every student receives at least one face-to-face career guidance interview before leaving school, with priority access for those with additional needs.
- Employer talks, workplace visits, and careers fairs, providing real-world encounters with employers and providers.
- Work experience opportunities tailored to individual student needs, particularly in Key Stage 4 and 5.
- Unifrog – an online careers platform accessible to all students and staff from Year 7 to Year 13, providing tools for exploration, career matching, and post-16/18 planning.
- Targeted workshops and one-to-one support for high-aspiring students (e.g. Oxbridge, Medicine, Law, and Russell Group pathways).
- Annual reviews and bespoke careers input for all EHCP students in partnership with the SEN team and local authority.
- Tailored support for vulnerable students or those at risk of becoming NEET.
- SEND-friendly resources and alternative formats.
- Intervention for students who are unsure, disengaged or undecided about next steps.
- Enrichment activities, including the HE+/apprenticeship programmes, and university access initiatives.
Stakeholder Awareness and Engagement
We ensure that students, staff, parents/carers, and opportunity providers are fully informed of the CEIAG entitlement through:
- Regular updates via newsletters, the school website, and the Unifrog portal.
- Parental information evenings at key transition points (Years 9, 11, 12 and 13) to support shared understanding and decision-making.
- Staff CPD to embed careers learning across the curriculum and enable timely identification of students needing further support.
- Partnerships with local employers, alumni and training providers, including assemblies, workshops, and mentoring opportunities.
- Student voice and feedback mechanisms to help evaluate and refine the programme.
Labour Market Information (LMI)
We work closely with the South London Careers Hub and Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to provide up-to-date local Labour Market Information. Students access this through:
- Unifrog's integrated LMI tools
- Tutor time sessions exploring growth sectors and local opportunities
- Employer and alumni talks
- Guidance interviews that consider realistic opportunities based on the LMI context
